Zimbabwe Cricket Safeguarding

Every person in cricket deserves to feel safe.

This is Zimbabwe Cricket's home for safeguarding — information on what safeguarding means, how to report a concern, and what happens next. You do not need an account. You can report with your name, or without it.

Leadership Commitment

Managing Director’s Vision

As Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket, I present this Safeguarding Strategy as our organisation’s comprehensive framework for protecting children, young people, women, and vulnerable adults across all cricket environments. Developed in partnership with 21Solutions Inc., a management consultancy with extensive experience in safeguarding young people, adults, and vulnerable groups...

...this strategy reflects my commitment to integrating national legislation, ICC Safeguarding Regulations, and SRC governance requirements into a unified safeguarding system for Zimbabwe Cricket.

In this strategy, I outline the Board’s governance responsibilities, accountability mechanisms, and reporting structures. I set out clear policies, codes of conduct, safe recruitment standards, and mandatory training requirements for all personnel. I have ensured that operational tools — including reporting procedures, risk assessments, monitoring and evaluation indicators, and case-management guidance — are embedded to support consistent implementation across clubs, academies, provincial structures, and national teams.

I also recognise that Zimbabwe Cricket is positioning itself to participate in future Olympic competitions. Achieving this ambition requires us to meet the highest global standards of athlete welfare and protection. This Safeguarding Strategy therefore aligns our systems with international expectations for Olympic sports, ensuring that our environments uphold the principles of safety, dignity, inclusion, and integrity demanded by the Olympic Movement. By strengthening our safeguarding culture now, we prepare our athletes, coaches, and support staff to operate confidently and responsibly within Olympic-level frameworks.

I position safeguarding as a core organisational priority. My aim is to prevent harm, strengthen early reporting, ensure survivor-centred responses, and embed a culture of safety aligned with the Spirit of Cricket. This document serves both as a governance reference for leadership and a practical manual for coaches, managers, officials, volunteers, and support staff.

Together, these components represent my commitment — and Zimbabwe Cricket’s commitment — to delivering safe, inclusive, and accountable cricket environments nationwide, and to preparing our organisation for the global stage, including future Olympic participation.

What safeguarding means

Safeguarding is the action Zimbabwe Cricket takes to protect children, young people, women, and vulnerable adults from abuse, harm, exploitation, and discrimination — in every club, academy, provincial structure, and national programme.

Safeguarding in action

Everyone has a role

Players, parents, coaches, officials, volunteers, and administrators all share responsibility for keeping cricket safe.

Concerns are taken seriously

Every report is reviewed. Zimbabwe Cricket takes a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, harassment, and misconduct.

Retaliation is never acceptable

Anyone who reports a concern in good faith is protected from retaliation, intimidation, or loss of opportunity.

Choose how to report

Both options are taken equally seriously. Pick whichever feels right for you.
